Job Title: Assistant Director of Sales and Student Engagement


Job Summary:

Assistant Director of Sales and Student Engagement is responsible for leading and managing the Goggin Ice Center Skate/Pro Shop sales area, which includes the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and budget. Responsibility for sales, including but not limited to: program registration sales, retail sales, and rental equipment. This position will lead and assist in developing reports showing weekly, monthly, and yearly goals and key performance indictors (KPIs). This position will have direct responsibility for student group engagement, public skating sessions, and will assist with on-ice instruction as needed. Assistant Director of Sales and Student Engagement will be responsible for continuing and developing new relationships with other University and community groups that further the mission of Miami University and Goggin Ice Center.


Duties/Physical Demands:

• Act as Manager on Duty and perform duties with limited supervision while making independent decisions that reflect the overall mission of Miami University and Goggin Ice Center.

• Lead and develop ongoing policies, procedures, budgets, and strategic planning focused on risk management and increasing sales for Skate/Pro shop and programs and events.

• Direct the recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating of Customer Service staff including benefit eligible, students, and part-time staff.

• Direct all in-store and on-line sales for Goggin Ice Center programs, event registration, and retails sales, including upkeep and maintenance of computer software used for sales, registration, reporting, and inventory.

• Oversee the purchasing of the Pro Shop “merchandise mix;” work with the University Bookstore buyer to place orders via university procedures and retail compliance of contracts, partnerships, and sponsors.

• Assist in the development of goals and KPIs for areas assigned and responsible for creating reports that show metrics for goals and KPIs.

• Manage events and programs for Miami students, staff, and surrounding community members with an emphasis on participation growth, retention rate, risk management, and customer service.

• Maintain a safe and secure store; ensure the safety of participants, patrons, employees, and merchandise by developing and implementing safety and security procedures


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or four years’ experience in ice-related sports and/or activities, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Employment for this position is contingent upon providing a set of fingerprint impressions and satisfactorily completing a criminal records check.
• Current CPR and 1st aid training certification or ability to become certified


Desired Qualifications:

• Experience with Ice Hockey and/or Ice Skating instruction and officiating.
• Knowledge of other ice-related sports, activities, and equipment.
• Post-high school athlete experience (preferably in ice-related sports)
• 1-2 years’ experience in successful management and recreational programming experience.
• Experience in working within a university environment.

Candidate must have ability to work and make independent decisions; candidate must be reliable, have strong communication skills, and provide customer service; must have sales experience.
