Simulation Coordinator

Job Summary:

Full time, temporary, nine month appointment on Miami University’s Oxford Campus. Simulation and lab support may also be required on Miami University’s Regional Hamilton Campus. The Simulation Coordinator collaborates with faculty to provide for consistent, consecutive and relevant student learning experiences to meet course, clinical, and laboratory objectives in the simulation lab.

Duties/Physical Demands:

Designs, develops, implements and evaluates scenarios, simulated learning activities and educational materials for all nursing courses in collaboration with nursing faculty, staff and other users of the simulation lab. Develops, implements, updates, and monitors simulation lab policies, procedures, use, and operation; operates, trouble-shoots, and cares for high-fidelity human simulators; monitors and schedules use, signing out, and movement of simulation lab equipment; develops, presents, evaluates and refines scenarios for simulation experiences, utilizing role playing, props and dialogue to create a realistic learning environment; develops and implements clinical simulation to meet accreditation standards; creates and maintains a respectful and professional working environment, incorporating active learning, reflective thinking, and a confidential debriefing process; performs data analysis to evaluate learning and satisfaction with the provision of services; continuously updates and refines simulation experiences based on identified needs and to serve as a resource for faculty utilizing simulation in classroom/lab activities. Assists the chairperson and Nursing Resource Center Directors in the identification of needed simulation and laboratory equipment. Assists the Nursing Resource Center Directors with tutoring/remediation and nursing skills labs as needed. Other activities as assigned by the Department Chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; current Ohio registered nursing license or eligibility to obtain; two (2) years' experience in the field of clinical nursing; expertise in appropriate technologies for simulation; computer experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); excellent presentation and communication skills; demonstration of clinical competence and professionalism. The University will not sponsor H1-B for this position.

Desired Qualifications:

Master's degree in Nursing; supervisory experience; working knowledge of Mac computers; experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds; simulation expertise.
