Job Title: Student Assistant - Art & Architecture Library
Salary/Grade:

$8.55/hr - $9.65/hr

Job Summary:

Wertz Art & Architecture Library Student Assistants are our first tier of service for helping patrons get the help they need. They assist patron’s face-to-face with questions or requests using our library website, OhioLINK, and other databases. Other Student Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Check out books to patrons
Reserve study rooms
Troubleshoot and solve common printer and copier problems
Field basic reference questions
Answer departmental telephone
Organize and index collection materials
Assist in classroom setup and tear down
Assist in preserving collection materials
Other duties as assigned

10-15 hours per week. Please attach a resume when completing your application.

Minimal training or prior knowledge of work is required. Work assignments are completed under close supervision. Procedures are well established. Employees typically follow well-defined policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled at least part time at Miami University.
Able to work independently.
Reliable, dependable, and honest.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Good hygiene practice essential to a public service environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior library experience.
Accurate with an attention for detail.
Ability to multitask.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Good communication skills.
Basic computer skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Familiarity with design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Autodesk, Google Sketchup).
Experience operating and troubleshooting Windows and Mac operating systems.
Experience operating troubleshooting high volume printers.
