Job Title: Director
Job Summary:

Miami University is seeking a Director of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life to serve as the primary person responsible for the direction of the fraternal community and student activities and organizations. The Director works to deepen student involvement opportunities consistent with Miami's commitment to the active engagement of its students in both curricular and co-curricular life. The Director works collaboratively with all Student Life and campus offices, as well as external stakeholders.

The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining student development goals, monitoring activities, supervising staff, and advising various student organizations.  

Duties:

• supervise the staff and budget for Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life
• develop and communicate vision to advance student engagement, establish long range departmental goals, develop learning outcomes, and assess programs/activities
• maintain a working relationship with national Greek organizations’ headquarters and local alumni volunteers
• facilitate collaboration among Academic Affairs and Student Life
• design comprehensive marketing initiatives for the department to encourage involvement in student organizations and fraternity and sorority life
• initiate grant writing, and support development opportunities, including alumni foundation, and corporate support
• work closely with the Office of Community Standards to assist in the resolution of organizational conduct matters
• supervise staff providing organizational support to the executive councils and programming boards of student activities and fraternity and sorority life.
• assist fraternity and sorority chapters in actively recruiting engaged on- and off-campus advisors, provide regular and ongoing training, support, and recognition for volunteer advisors
• conceptualize, develop, and deliver strong and consistent risk management and accountability systems within the fraternity and sorority community
• conceptualize, develop, and deliver leadership development and educational programs for student organizations
• oversee and implement diversity initiatives within the office
• maintain regular communication and working relationships with the Oxford community
• other duties as assigned to support the Division of Student Life

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree required in Student Affairs or related field.
Minimum of five years of progressive responsibilities in a student affairs work environment including experience with:
- fraternal organizations,
- advising student organizations,
- program planning,
- supervising staff, and
- managing budgets.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate commitment to diversity, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to relate well to student, faculty, staff, volunteers, community members and administrators.

Desired Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
Experience with:
- leadership development,
- student conduct, and
- alcohol education.
